Van Accessibility
One comment concerned the space not being van-accessible. In the Scoping and Technical Requirements section, 4.1.2 (5)(b), new construction of a parking lot requires one in every eight accessible spaces, but not less than one, be served by an access aisle that is at least 96 inches wide and designated with a "van-accessible" sign. (See ADAAG 4.6.4.) These van-accessible spaces allow more maneuvering space for a person using a ramp or lift to exit and enter their vehicle. It should be noted that ADAAG 4.1 has a subheading, "minimum requirements". Thus, if you wanted to place more van-accessible spaces, you would not be restricted in doing so.
