Visiting Project Coordinator

Gillian Goodfriend, RD, LDN came to the University of Illinois at Chicago in September of 2007 as Project Coordinator of Project PEP II (Personalized Exercise Program), a study designed to lower secondary health conditions of overweight adults with mobility disabilities through physical activity and nutrition coaching. She has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Michigan in Movement Science. She completed the Didactic Program in Dietetics from Loyola University Chicago and did her internship work at University of Michigan Health System to become a Registered Dietitian. She is a certified ACSM Health Fitness Instructor and a certified personal trainer and group exercise leader. In her career, Gillian has worked in corporate wellness for Advocate Fitness and in clinical dietetics at University of Michigan Health System. Gillian has extensive experience working with patients with diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and eating disorders. Gillian currently contributes to NCPAD through the newsletter’s nutrition corner and a monthly column, along with helping to produce home exercise videos designed especially for people with disabilities.
