Stuifbergen, A.K. (2006). Building health promotion interventions for persons with chronic disabling conditions. Family and Community Health, 29(15), 28S-34S.

The importance of targeting successful interventions for people with disabilities and chronic conditions is discussed, so that a validation process of adapting successful interventions can be standardized. Examples are provided regarding the use of the literature on developing self-efficacy for health behaviors. Overviews are also furnished on topics of health promotion versus disease management, and disease-specific versus disease-neutral interventions.
