Purpose
Does late life physical activity or exercise prevent or minimize disablement? A critical review of the scientific evidence.
American Journal of Preventive Medicine, 25, 129-136.
Purpose:
There is a substantial amount of evidence that physical activity and exercise are beneficial in improving impairments of the elderly population. However, whether physical activity late in life plays an important role in minimizing disability levels is controversial. The purpose of this review was to find out whether late-life physical activity plays a role only in reducing functional impairments, and if it also prevents or minimizes physical disability.
