Determine if low fitness predicted cardiovascular disease risk factors development, and whether improving fitness is related with risk reduction. (Fitness estimated by the duration of a maximal treadmill exercise test.)
Methods and Participants: Population-based longitudinal cohort study of men and women, ages 18-30. Participants completing a treadmill test at baseline were followed up from 1985-1986 to 2000-2001.
