Notes

Eagle Mount's aquatic program began in 1990 with one class of aquatic exercise. From this fine start, our aquatic program has grown to serve a broad range of individuals with disabilities in three different classes - Water Exercise, Kids Swim, and Warm Water Conditioning.

The water exercise program offers aquatic exercise for adults with varying disabilities. With the help of the individual's physician or therapist, when needed, and many dedicated volunteers, a plan is individualized for each participant. These plans provide exercise that stretches muscles, improves muscle tone, range of motion, cardiovascular endurance and balance. The kids' swim class provides all the benefits of aquatic principles in addition to teaching these very special kids swimming skills at a level that they can understand. The warm water exercise program is designed to help improve range of motion, balance, and endurance for those participants who cannot tolerate usual indoor swimming pool temperatures. The freedom of movement, delight of discovering their own buoyancy, the sense of accomplishment that our participants have from being in our swim classes and learning how to properly swim and exercise cannot be overstated.
