The TISC Adaptive Sailing Program ranges from introductory sailing for children and adults to competitive training for individuals training for the US Paralympic Sailing Team. Persons with physical disabilities gain a sense of independence and self-confidence while sailing and are able to compete equally against able-bodied sailors. TISC instructors are trained to support the needs of each unique participant and promote safety both on and off the water. To better serve all participants, facility upgrades including the installment of an ADA-compliant ramp are currently in the TISC Facility Development plans.
The boats used for Adaptive Sailing include Access Dinghies, Sonars, and J24's. Particpants of the Adaptive program can come independently or are affiliated with local programs like BAADS, Shriners Hospital, Kids on a Roll, Special Olympics of Northern California, and the San Francisco Recreation Center for the Handicapped.
