Founded in 1995 as a non-profit 501(c) 3 organization, Pal-O-Mine Equestrian, Inc. is located in Islandia, New York, 30 miles from New York City. The mission of Pal-O-Mine Equestrian, Inc. is to provide therapeutic, recreational and competitive horseback riding and ancillary skills to individuals of all ages with physical, cognitive, emotional disabilities, and who are economically disadvantaged; and to provide unique learning experiences that strengthen and develop the lives of at-risk and vulnerable youth. We utilize the modalities of therapeutic riding (the study of riding and horsemanship skills under the supervision of a qualified instructor), hippotherapy (the medical use of a horse in physical rehabilitation), and equine assisted psychotherapy (the use of the horse in mental health therapy) in our client sessions as well as provide a unique learning environment for building character, vocational, academic, and life skills.
