Description
  • Little Bits is a non-profit organization that offers riding programs to children and adults with disabilities. Each year, more than 125 riders benefit from our services. Established in 1975, the organization is governed by a volunteer board of directors and funded through donations and fundraising activities.

The riding program is based at the Whitemud Equine Centre in the heart of Edmonton’s river valley. Little Bits works in partnership with the Whitemud Association to keep this facility fully accessible. Ramps and a lift system are available for riders who need these supports.

Little Bits offers riding sessions in spring, in fall and a short summer session is offered to riders currently participating in the program. Once a week, riders receive one hour of riding instruction by certified and experienced instructors who are assisted by a corps of volunteers. These instructors and volunteers offer riders whatever support they need to participate. The focus of each class is on skills development, enjoyment and the unique therapeutic aspects of horseback riding.
