The National Safety Council is a nonprofit, nongovernmental, international public service organization dedicated to protecting life and promoting health. The NSC is a membership organization, founded in 1913 and chartered by the U.S. Congress in 1953. Members include more than 48,000 businesses, labor organizations, schools, public agencies, private groups and individuals.
Mission - To educate and influence society to adopt safety, health and environmental policies, practices and procedures that prevent and mitigate human suffering and economic losses arising from preventable causes.
Vision - The NSC will be the recognized leader in providing safety and health solutions for reducing unintentional deaths and disabling injuries. The NSC will provide safety and health solutions to members, their employees and their families at home, at work, in communities, and in transportation.
